Accessibility

Lindsay Rehabilitation & Lindsay Physiotherapy Services are committed to excellence in serving all clients including people with disabilities.

Feedback Process & Accommodation Requests
The clinic will consider all requests for accommodation. Clients and families can contact the organization in writing, by phone, email or simply drop in.
Annual clinic inspections take place throughout the year. This is an opportunity to identify issues, and for staff to bring forward their concerns.
All staff have an opportunity to raise any concerns or special needs that they may identify.
All requests are reviewed by the organization’s team of Leaders in a timely way to determine if remedial actions are reasonable and appropriate. The team will use criteria including: resources required, achievable given current location and environment etc. If not readily achievable the team will indicate whether it may be achievable in the future or not.
For accommodations that cannot be made the organization will assist clients to find other resources that are accessible given their needs.

Assistive devices
We will ensure that our staff are trained and familiar with various assistive devices that may be used by clients with disabilities while accessing our services.

Communication
We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability.

Service animals
We welcome people with disabilities and their service animals. Service animals are allowed on the parts of our premises that are open to the public.

Support persons
A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to have that person accompany them into treatment areas if they desire.

Notice of temporary disruption
In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to services or facilities for customers with disabilities, we will notify customers promptly. This clearly posted notice will include information about the reason for the disruption, its anticipated length of time, and a description of alternative facilities or services, if available.

Training
We will provide training to employees, volunteers and others who deal with the public or other third parties on our behalf. This training will be provided to staff on employment.

Training will include:

  • An overview of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and the requirements of the customer service standard’s plan related to the customer service standard.
  • How to interact and communicate with people with various types of disabilities
  • How to interact with people with disabilities who use an assistive device or require the assistance of a service animal or a support person
  • How to use devices available on-site or otherwise that may help with providing goods or services to people with disabilities
  • What to do if a person with a disability is having difficulty in accessing our clinics
  • Staff will also be trained when changes are made to the plan.

Hiring
Lindsay Rehabilitation welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process. During the hiring process, job applicants when selected for an interview will be informed that accommodation will be provided. If an applicant or successful candidate requests an accommodation, their needs will be discussed with them.

Modifications to this or other policies
Any policy that does not respect and promote the dignity and independence of people with disabilities will be modified or removed.
